Man Utd Target Award-Winning Guinea Striker Guirassy in January, Sesko Decision Looms

Manchester United are assessing Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy as a possible January option, but no bid has been made and the club has not reached a final decision on whether to pursue him. Reports indicate that Guirassy is one of several experienced forwards being monitored as United review their attacking depth, rather than a confirmed priority signing.

The immediate concern is Benjamin Šeško’s recurring shin problem. The Slovenia international missed United’s 1-1 draw at Fulham after feeling pain following the Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton, and Michael Carrick said the club were still assessing the issue. Šeško is expected to undergo further examination in London, but the extent of the setback was not known as of 21 September.

Any move for Guirassy would not necessarily mean United intend to sell Šeško. Reports state that the 23-year-old remains part of the club’s longer-term plans, though a move for an experienced No. 9 could become more likely if Joshua Zirkzee leaves or if Šeško’s fitness remains uncertain.

Guirassy, 30, remains under contract at Dortmund until 2028. He scored 22 goals in the 2025–26 season and has started the new Bundesliga campaign strongly, with four goals and two assists in his first four league games. However, the claim that he has no release clause is not reliable: reporting has indicated that his contract includes a restricted or special release clause, potentially available only to a select group of clubs.
