Falcons Soar to Historic Caribbean Premier League Title with Dominant Victory Over Kingsmen

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are Caribbean Premier League champions for the first time after beating Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the 2026 final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. The Falcons chased 171 with 20 balls remaining, finishing on 173 for two in 16.4 overs.

Jamaica Kingsmen were sent in and reached 170 for nine, almost entirely because of Maaz Sadaqat’s remarkable 114 from 58 balls. The opener struck eight fours and nine sixes to become the first player to score a century in a CPL final, but he received little support: Saim Ayub’s 29 was the only other double-figure contribution. The other 10 Kingsmen batters combined for only 44 runs.

The key bowling performance came from left-arm wrist-spinner Sufyan Muqeem, who returned four for 14 from four overs and was named Player of the Match. Alzarri Joseph also claimed two for 27 as the Falcons restricted Jamaica despite Sadaqat’s century.

The Falcons made their chase look straightforward. Rahkeem Cornwall gave them early momentum with 20 from six balls, while Evin Lewis scored 38 from 26. Amir Jangoo then anchored the chase with an unbeaten 57 from 34 deliveries, and Hasan Nawaz finished 47 not out from 35 as the pair added an unbroken 89-run partnership for the third wicket.

The victory gives the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons their maiden CPL trophy in only their third season. It also ended an unusual final contested by the league’s two newest franchises, with neither the Guyana Amazon Warriors nor Trinbago Knight Riders involved in the title decider.
