Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing a late double deal with Chelsea involving Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo. However, the two transfers should not be described in exactly the same terms: Mudryk’s loan move has reportedly been agreed in principle, while Tosin is expected to join permanently rather than on loan.
Tottenham Pursue Double Deal
Tottenham have made enquiries for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk and defender Tosin Adarabioyo as they attempt to complete their final business before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. Spurs have already spent around £380 million on eight new players this summer but are still looking to strengthen their squad.
Mudryk is keen to remain in the Premier League and would welcome the opportunity to reunite with Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi. The pair previously worked together at Shakhtar Donetsk, where De Zerbi helped oversee the Ukrainian winger’s development.
Chelsea had considered sending Mudryk to Strasbourg, while Leeds United had also shown interest. Tottenham’s approach became increasingly attractive because it would allow the player to stay in England and work again with his former coach. Reports indicate that Chelsea and Spurs have reached an agreement over a season-long loan, although Mudryk’s personal terms still need to be finalised.
The situation involving Tosin is further advanced in a different way. Tottenham are expected to sign the centre-back on a permanent transfer, with the fee reportedly around £7 million. Spurs view him as potential cover for Kevin Danso, who is seeking a move away from the club.
Premier League rules limit clubs to one domestic loan from another team in the division at the same time. As a result, if Mudryk arrives on loan, Tottenham cannot also take Tosin on loan and would need to complete a permanent transfer for the defender.
Chelsea’s Busy Window
Chelsea have continued to reduce their squad ahead of the deadline. Nicolas Jackson’s permanent move to Aston Villa has been agreed for a reported £65 million, while Caleb Wiley has joined Preston North End on a season-long loan.
Other Chelsea departures include Liam Delap’s move to Nottingham Forest in a package worth up to £50 million, while David Datro Fofana has joined Swiss club Servette permanently. The club are also considering moves involving several other players before the window closes.
Spurs’ Late Reinforcement
Tottenham’s pursuit of Mudryk is designed to add pace and width to De Zerbi’s attack, while Tosin would provide additional depth in central defence if Danso leaves. The two negotiations are linked by Tottenham’s squad needs, but they remain separate transactions.
Spurs are also monitoring Manchester City forward Iliman Ndiaye as another attacking option. Competition for Mudryk remains active, but Tottenham have moved into a strong position because of the winger’s preference to remain in the Premier League and reunite with De Zerbi.
The deals therefore represent a major late-window opportunity for both clubs: Tottenham could add two players from a direct London rival, while Chelsea would move closer to completing the squad overhaul that has dominated their transfer window.
