Real Madrid have been crowned Under-20 Intercontinental Cup champions for the first time after a 3-1 victory over Santiago Wanderers at the Santiago Bernabéu in front of a record 52,117 spectators.
Daniel Yáñez gave Madrid the lead in the 29th minute with a direct free-kick, awarded after Wanderers defender Alexander Dubó was sent off for a challenge on him. Christian Silva equalised early in the second half, but substitute Fran Santamaría restored Madrid’s advantage in the 81st minute. Roberto Martín then sealed the title with a third goal in the 99th minute, again from a Jesús Fortea assist.
The match turned increasingly tense in the closing stages. Wanderers were reduced to 10 men after Dubó’s dismissal, and two more players—Cristopher Valenzuela and Nicolás Carvacho—were sent off in a bad-tempered finale, leaving the Chilean side with eight players. Yáñez also had a stoppage-time penalty saved by Fabiano Avello before Martín scored the decisive third.
The attendance of 52,117 set a new world record for a youth club match, surpassing the previous mark of 45,000 set at the Maracanã in 2025 when Flamengo beat Barcelona in the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup final. It was also the first time the fixture had been played in Europe.
For Real Madrid’s academy, the trophy completed a historic four-trophy haul for La Fábrica in 2025-26, adding the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup to the UEFA Youth League, the Spanish youth league and the Copa de Campeones.
