Liverpool are unlikely to sign Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise in the January transfer window, with Bayern determined to keep the France international as they pursue domestic and European honours. Reports of Liverpool interest reflect the club’s longer-term planning on the right wing, but Bayern’s current position is that Olise is not available for a mid-season transfer.
Christian Falk, writing for CF Bayern Insider, said there was “absolutely no chance” of Bayern selling Olise in January. He reported that Bayern do not intend to part with players regarded as essential to Vincent Kompany’s squad while the club continues its push for the Champions League.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has also stressed the club’s determination to retain the 24-year-old. Asked what price might persuade Bayern to sell Olise, Eberl said that such a question does not arise for a club targeting the Champions League, adding that Bayern do not need to consider offers “no matter the sum.”
Olise is under contract at Bayern until 2029 and does not currently have a release clause. The club are expected to hold talks with his representatives about a possible extension, although Bayern’s reported willingness to discuss a future clause would only come at a very high valuation.
The winger’s importance was clear in Bayern’s 5–0 Champions League victory over Bodø/Glimt. Olise scored twice and assisted Harry Kane, while also creating seven chances, winning 15 duels and drawing five fouls—figures that placed him among the most influential players across the opening round of league-phase fixtures.
Olise’s wider output for club and country has strengthened his standing among Europe’s leading attacking players. He has registered 50 goal contributions for Bayern and France, while his 2026 World Cup campaign included seven assists as France reached the semi-finals.
Liverpool may view Olise as a natural long-term option on the right side of their attack, particularly as they consider the eventual succession plan for Mohamed Salah. However, any attempt to sign him in January is expected to fail, and a future move would depend on Bayern’s stance, the player’s willingness to leave and the terms of any new contract agreement.
Elsewhere, Manchester United are monitoring 19-year-old Polish midfielder Karol Borys after his move to Śląsk Wrocław from KVC Westerlo. The midfielder has signed a three-year contract in Poland and is viewed as a longer-term prospect rather than an immediate first-team target.
