Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been approached to join a consortium led by former Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia to buy a minority stake in Liverpool. Bhatia, the son-in-law of billionaire steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, had been a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years before relinquishing his stake in the club. A Fenway Sports Group (FSG) spokesperson confirmed the talks to Sky Sports News, stating that “an investment consortium led, managed, and represented by Amit Bhatia has expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club.” The consortium is reportedly seeking to purchase a 30% stake in the club. Bezos, estimated to be worth almost $257 billion, has held discussions about joining the syndicate of investors. The talks are still in the early stages, but the potential investment has generated interest and conversation among Liverpool supporters.
