Arsenal are set to make a £70m offer for Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, with the Brazil international being a priority target for the Gunners. Newcastle are aware of Guimaraes’ preference to join Arsenal this summer. Talks over a potential move for Guimaraes are ongoing, and it remains to be seen if Arsenal’s £70m offer will meet Newcastle’s valuation. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has had positive discussions with Guimaraes, but is unable to offer any guarantees on his captain’s future. Guimaraes has been on holiday with his family following Brazil’s last-16 exit from the World Cup and is due to return to Newcastle. Arsenal have a hardline maximum valuation of Guimaraes and are unwilling to overpay despite their desire to sign the midfielder. According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Guimaraes and are preparing an official bid for the Brazil international. However, Newcastle will demand a transfer fee of at least £80m for their captain.
