Lionel Messi scored the 100th goal of his Inter Miami career as the MLS side defeated Cruz Azul 2–0 to win the 2026 Campeones Cup at Nu Stadium.

The Argentine opened the scoring in the 24th minute, meeting a Luis Suárez cross with a header for his landmark goal. Messi then provided the assist for Casemiro’s 81st-minute header, which sealed Inter Miami’s first Campeones Cup triumph.

Messi reached 100 goals in just 115 appearances across all competitions for Inter Miami, making this the fastest he has reached a century of goals for any team he has represented. He previously required 188 matches to score 100 goals for Barcelona and 174 appearances to reach the same mark for Argentina.

The 39-year-old is the first player in Inter Miami history to score 100 goals for the club. His century includes 69 left-footed strikes, nine right-footed goals, 10 free-kicks, six headers, five penalties and one goal scored with his chest.

Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain and has transformed the club’s trophy record. The Campeones Cup is Inter Miami’s fourth trophy since his arrival, following the 2023 Leagues Cup, the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and the 2025 MLS Cup.

Inter Miami’s 2024 Supporters’ Shield success included an MLS single-season points record of 74, while Messi’s individual output has remained extraordinary. He has scored 23 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions in 2026 and created three chances in the victory over Cruz Azul.

The win also gave new Inter Miami head coach Cristian “Kily” González a trophy in his first match in charge. Messi’s opener and assist ensured another landmark night for the club’s captain, who continues to rewrite Inter Miami’s record books.
