A drunk PSV supporter caused a temporary emergency response at Eindhoven’s Strijp-S station after Thursday’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The man was reportedly sitting on the edge of the platform while waiting for a train. As a train approached, he moved away from the track at the last moment, but the driver could not see clearly whether he had reached safety. The train was stopped immediately and an emergency call was made.

Police, firefighters, ambulance crews and ProRail staff attended the station and searched for the supporter. Train services were suspended while officials checked the platform and railway line to ensure nobody remained in danger.

The supporter was eventually found at the station. Witness statements and an inspection of the track indicated that he had been responsible for the incident, and officials confirmed that the railway was clear before allowing the train to continue.

He received a police warning and two fines, including one for public drunkenness. The disruption was temporary, but it followed a tense evening in Eindhoven that had begun with PSV and Shakhtar sharing the points in their Champions League opener.
