Shimron Hetmyer’s outstanding unbeaten century was not enough to prevent Guyana Amazon Warriors from exiting the Caribbean Premier League, as Jamaica Kingsmen completed a five-wicket win in Qualifier 2 to reach the 2026 final.

The Kingsmen chased down 207 with two balls remaining at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, finishing on 207 for five after Guyana had posted 206 for four. Jamaica will face the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the final.

Hetmyer produced one of the innings of the tournament, making 102 not out from 45 balls. His knock included four fours and eight sixes, and he brought up his century on the final ball of the Guyana innings by slicing Andre Russell for four over short third.

The left-hander’s innings was his second century of the 2026 CPL season and his third overall in the competition. Despite setting a target of more than 200 in a knockout match, Guyana were unable to contain a balanced Jamaica chase.

Maaz Sadaqat gave Jamaica early momentum with 41, while Kirk McKenzie contributed 34. Keacy Carty then anchored the pursuit with 56 before Rovman Powell supplied the decisive late assault, striking an unbeaten 40 from 17 deliveries. Hassan Khan hit the winning boundary to complete the chase in 19.4 overs.

Powell shared the Player of the Match award with Hetmyer in recognition of the Guyana batter’s exceptional innings. However, Jamaica’s collective effort proved decisive, with contributions throughout the top and middle order overcoming the daunting target.

Hetmyer’s century came after his earlier 40-ball hundred against Trinbago Knight Riders, a mark that had equalled the previous fastest CPL century record. Dasun Shanaka later surpassed it with a 39-ball hundred for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots against Saint Lucia Kings.

For Guyana, the defeat ended a run of three successive losses and denied the side a fourth consecutive CPL final appearance. Jamaica, meanwhile, completed the highest successful chase in a CPL knockout match and advanced with momentum into the title decider.
