Alexander Isak has firmly shut down any suggestion of buyer’s remorse following his blockbuster £125 million transfer to Liverpool, describing the decision to swap St James’ Park for Anfield as an easy choice. The 26-year-old Swedish striker arrived on Merseyside on deadline day in September 2025 under the immense weight of a British-record transfer fee. Despite an arduous, injury-plagued debut campaign that severely tested his resolve, the forward remains completely unwavering about his high-profile switch.
Isak’s inaugural year at Liverpool was disrupted almost from the outset. Arriving short of match fitness following a fraught exit from Newcastle United—where he missed pre-season, trained at former club Real Sociedad, and stated that promises made to him at St James’ Park had been broken—he struggled to find consistency early on. He managed just three Premier League goals in his first few months before disaster struck in December.
