Inter Milan came from 2–0 down to beat Udinese 5–3 at San Siro, but it was their fourth Serie A fixture—not their second. The comeback began with a long-range goal from Carlos Augusto, followed by Nicolò Barella’s equaliser, before Marcus Thuram, Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny completed the turnaround.

Udinese made a remarkable start. James Abankwah headed in Unai Gómez’s cross in the ninth minute for his first Serie A goal, then Jürgen Ekkelenkamp doubled the visitors’ lead in the 16th minute after Keinan Davis created the opportunity.

Inter’s first response did not come from an Argentine forward crossing from the left. Carlos Augusto struck a powerful left-footed shot from outside the area in the 26th minute, finding the bottom corner to reduce the deficit. Nicolò Barella then levelled the match in the 35th minute with a finish from a tight angle.

Inter took the lead for the first time in the 57th minute, when Marcus Thuram scored following a strong run and cross from Denzel Dumfries. Francesco Pio Esposito added a fourth in the 67th minute, finishing from close range after a move involving Thuram and Federico Dimarco.

Ange-Yoan Bonny made it 5–2 in the 79th minute, converting a cross from Luis Henrique. Udinese substitute Idrissa Gueye scored in first-half stoppage time, but the late goal only reduced the final deficit as Inter secured a 5–3 win.

The result kept Inter level with Roma at the top of Serie A on 12 points from four matches. Roma also maintained a perfect record by beating Torino 2–0 away, with Donyell Malen and Nicolò Pisilli scoring.

Inter’s comeback again showed the depth of their attacking options, with five different goalscorers after the early setback. Yet conceding twice in the opening 16 minutes will concern the coaching staff ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, where the league’s two early pacesetters will face each other.
