Al Hilal have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign England striker Ollie Watkins in a deal worth up to €60.4 million. The package includes a guaranteed €58.4 million fee and a further €2 million in performance-related add-ons.

Watkins had already agreed personal terms with the Saudi Pro League club and made it clear that Al Hilal was his preferred destination. Villa had previously rejected several offers, but the Midlands club eventually approved Al Hilal’s improved proposal after working to identify a replacement for the striker.

The 30-year-old is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia in the coming days to undergo a medical and complete the remaining formalities. His move will bring an end to his time at Aston Villa, where he scored 108 goals in 278 appearances.

Watkins leaves after scoring 16 Premier League goals last season and helping Villa win the Europa League. His departure represents a major change for Unai Emery’s team, which may now pursue Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson as a replacement.

For Al Hilal, the signing adds an experienced Premier League striker to their attack. Once the medical and final paperwork are completed, Watkins will become the latest England international to continue his career in the Saudi Pro League.
