Tottenham’s 1.94m striker already on six goals this season—three Premier League clubs are circling

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring Freiburg striker Igor Matanović following an encouraging start to his season, but could face competition from Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. The Croatian forward is reported to have scored six goals in seven appearances across all competitions during the opening stages of the 2026–27 campaign.

Standing 1.94m tall, Matanović has attracted attention from Premier League scouts. A report attributed to CaughtOffside says representatives from United, Chelsea and Arsenal have watched him, with his performances receiving positive assessments. He remains one of several candidates being considered rather than the subject of a confirmed bid.

Tottenham’s reported interest places them in the same potential recruitment race. Crucially, Matanović plays for Freiburg: the story concerns Spurs assessing an attacking addition, not preparing to sell a productive member of their own squad.

The report suggests Freiburg could ask approximately £50 million to sell him next year. That figure is a reported estimate, not an agreed fee, and there is no confirmed indication that any interested club has committed to paying it.

His early scoring form helps explain the attention, but six goals across all competitions should not be presented as a Premier League tally. Nor does reported scouting establish that a transfer will happen or that the player has chosen a destination.

For Tottenham, the immediate question is whether their interest develops into a concrete approach. For now, Matanović remains a Freiburg striker attracting reported attention from four Premier League clubs—not a Spurs player on the verge of departure.
