The arrival of the Brazilian forward pushes Tottenham’s overall expenditure during the current summer transfer window beyond the £300 million barrier. Spurs have pursued the talented winger aggressively, having originally targeted him twelve months ago before a proposed transfer broke down. Following ongoing discussions through the early stages of the window, the player formally communicated his desire to depart the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that the winger had requested a transfer, clearing the path for intensive weekend negotiations between the two clubs to bring the long-running pursuit to a successful resolution.
As part of his transition to north London, the winger—whose full name is Savio Moreira de Oliveira—has officially dropped his familiar moniker of ‘Savinho’ and requested to be known simply as ‘Savio’. The attacker will wear the No. 17 jersey at Tottenham, taking over the squad number previously vacated by defender Cristian Romero. Speaking on his arrival at the club, Savio expressed his delight at completing the transfer after a lengthy pursuit, stating that while it took a while, he is extremely happy to be at Spurs and determined to help propel the club back into European football next season.
Savio departs Manchester City following a two-year spell in the North West. He originally joined the Sky Blues from French outfit Troyes in July 2024 for a fee of £30.8 million, subsequently extending his commitment with a contract running through to the summer of 2031 in October.
