The summer transfer window has closed across Italian football, leaving Serie A clubs with significantly reshaped squads ahead of their domestic and European campaigns. Roma, AC Milan and Inter Milan were among the leading clubs to complete high-profile business, while promoted sides Venezia and Frosinone added depth for the demands of top-flight football. Roma strengthened their attacking options with the signings of Dutch forward Donyell Malen from Aston Villa and Portuguese teenage midfielder Rodrigo Mora from Porto. The Giallorossi also brought in Bologna striker Santiago Castro, expanding their forward line while continuing to operate within UEFA financial regulations.
AC Milan were among the division’s biggest spenders. The Rossoneri signed Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain for €74 million plus bonuses, making him the most expensive Serie A arrival of the summer. Spanish defender Mario Gila joined to reinforce the back line, while Diego Moreira added another option in the wide areas.
Inter Milan also undertook an extensive rebuild after winning the Scudetto. The champions signed England defender John Stones from Manchester City, midfielder Curtis Jones from Liverpool, right-back Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur, Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge and goalkeeper Ivan Provedel from Lazio. The arrivals reflect Inter’s effort to refresh multiple areas of the squad rather than concentrate investment on a single position.
Elsewhere, Venezia signed Morocco defender Redouane Halhal from KV Mechelen on a deal running until June 2030. The reported agreement includes a €5 million fixed fee plus add-ons. Frosinone, meanwhile, recruited former Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma on a free transfer, with the centre-back signing through June 2028.
Financial discipline remained an important consideration throughout the Italian market, although Serie A clubs still spent heavily. AC Milan led the division with spending of around €165.05 million, followed closely by Juventus at approximately €164.35 million. Fiorentina, Roma and Inter also each committed more than €100 million, highlighting a significant level of investment across the league.
In the women’s game, Juventus forward Michela Cambiaghi joined Inter on a three-year contract. With the market now closed, attention turns to how the new signings settle into their teams. Roma’s attacking additions, Milan’s investment in Ramos and Gila, Inter’s broader recruitment drive, and the defensive reinforcements at Venezia and Frosinone will all be judged by results in Serie A and European competition over the season.
