The South Asian Football Federation Championship in Dhaka is set to feature a standout talent when USA-based striker Ronan Sullivan takes the field for Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Football Federation’s vice-president, Fahad Karim, has confirmed Sullivan’s availability for the tournament next month, marking a pivotal moment for the national team’s offensive strategy.

Sullivan’s inclusion follows a strategic call-up by the Bangladesh U-20 Men’s National Team, where he previously represented the country at a younger level. His decision to return to the senior squad underscores a deeper connection to his heritage, particularly as his older brother, Declan, has established himself as a key player for the Philadelphia Union in MLS. The Sullivan brothers’ dual paths—one in North America’s top league and the other in South Asian football—highlight a rare blend of professional ambition and national pride.

The forward’s tactical profile aligns with Bangladesh’s pressing needs. Known for his clinical finishing and ability to operate in tight spaces, Sullivan’s presence could provide a much-needed spark in the midfield-heavy SAFF Championship. His availability comes as Bangladesh seeks to advance beyond group-stage frustrations, with a squad that includes emerging talents looking to build on recent performances. The tournament, hosted in Dhaka, will serve as a litmus test for the team’s cohesion and Sullivan’s impact on the pitch.

For Sullivan, the return to Bangladesh represents more than just a competitive opportunity—it’s a statement. Having spent years developing in the USA, his decision to step into the national team’s spotlight reflects a commitment to his roots. With the SAFF Championship looming, the focus now shifts to how his experience and skill set will translate into goals and leadership for a team eager to make an impression in the region’s premier competition.
