Manchester City strengthened their early title credentials with a 1–0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, while Arsenal secured a hard-fought 2–0 victory away to Sunderland. David Raya saved a penalty before Bruno Guimarães and Bukayo Saka scored for the Gunners, preserving their perfect start.

Hull City remain one of the early stories of the campaign. The newly promoted side held Chelsea to a 2–2 draw at Stamford Bridge, extending their unbeaten run to four matches and lifting them to fourth on eight points. Only Arsenal, City and third-placed Leeds United sit above them after four rounds.

Leeds completed the weekend with a 4–1 win over Newcastle United at Elland Road. An own goal from Lewis Miley, goals from Jayden Bogle, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor, and a late Bamba Touré reply for Newcastle decided the match. The result kept Leeds unbeaten and moved them into third place, level on points with Hull but ahead on goal difference.

Brighton also delivered one of the weekend’s standout performances, winning 5–0 away to Coventry City. Chelsea’s draw with Hull, Tottenham’s goalless draw against Everton, Nottingham Forest’s 2–1 win at Aston Villa and Ipswich Town’s 3–2 victory at Crystal Palace added further movement to an already congested early table.

At the bottom, Coventry’s difficult return to the Premier League continued. The Sky Blues have lost all four fixtures, scored no goals and conceded 10, leaving them bottom of the standings. Aston Villa are also still without a win and sit 19th on one point.
