Pochettino insists his former side didn’t compete on a level playing field during that title race. The manager expressed that Tottenham deserve to be crowned champions because Chelsea admitted to breaking regulations. He pointed out that while Chelsea scored goals and won matches, competing under identical rules might’ve enabled Tottenham to secure additional player signings to strengthen their squad. Acknowledging that his stance would draw criticism from supporters of his former club—having subsequently managed Chelsea during the 2023-24 season before taking charge of the USA national team—Pochettino stated he’d take the exact same position had Tottenham committed similar breaches, asserting that rule-breakers don’t deserve titles.
