Liverpool have finalized the structure of an agreement to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola in a deal worth up to £123 million. The Premier League club will pay an initial £106 million for the France international, with a further £17 million available through performance-related add-ons. The transfer is not yet officially complete, as Barcola must still undergo a medical and the clubs must exchange the remaining legal documents.
Barcola has agreed personal terms with Liverpool and is expected to sign a five-year contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2031. The 23-year-old is understood to have approved the move after discussions with head coach Andoni Iraola, who made clear how important the winger would be to Liverpool’s attacking plans.
The agreement brings an end to months of negotiations between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain. PSG had initially valued Barcola at around £145 million and were reluctant to consider a sale for substantially less. Liverpool, however, remained determined to sign the French forward and eventually reached a compromise that guarantees the European champions more than £100 million while allowing additional payments to be linked to future performances.
Barcola’s desire to move to Anfield also helped the deal progress. The winger had reportedly decided against signing a contract extension with PSG, where he had two years remaining on his existing agreement. His preference for a new challenge in England strengthened Liverpool’s position during the final stages of negotiations.
The transfer will become Liverpool’s second-most expensive signing, behind only Alexander Isak’s £125 million move from Newcastle United. It also continues the club’s remarkable investment in attacking talent, following the arrivals of Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike during an ambitious summer rebuild.
Barcola is expected to provide pace, direct running and creativity from the wing. He can operate on either side of the attack and is also capable of moving into central areas, giving Iraola greater flexibility when Liverpool face different defensive systems.
The French international’s arrival will increase competition for places alongside Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, Isak and Ekitike. It could also influence Gakpo’s future, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City reportedly interested in the Netherlands forward.
Barcola is expected to travel to Merseyside for his medical over the weekend. Provided he passes the examination and the final paperwork is completed, Liverpool will formally confirm his arrival before the transfer deadline.
The signing represents a major statement of ambition from Liverpool. By securing one of Europe’s most highly rated young attackers and tying him to the club until 2031, the Premier League champions have added another important piece to Iraola’s long-term project.
