The 23-year-old forward has committed his long-term future to Anfield by signing a five-year contract through 2031. The completion of the transfer concludes structured negotiations between both clubs. Paris Saint-Germain initially held out for a £145 million valuation on the wide attacker, creating a substantial valuation gap during early summer talks. Liverpool remained firm in their pursuit, having identified Barcola as a top target following the departure of legendary wide man Mohamed Salah, who left Anfield on a free transfer to join Trabzonspor.
Barcola becomes the second most expensive purchase in Liverpool history, behind only the £125 million acquisition of Alexander Isak from Newcastle in 2025. The French international fits precisely into manager Andoni Iraola’s dynamic tactical system, which prioritizes raw pace, energy, and relentless work rate from wide positions. Liverpool had tracked Barcola’s development for several years prior to making their decisive move.
His arrival takes Liverpool’s total squad expenditure past £663 million since the end of the 2024/25 season.
