Leeds United produced a commanding 4–1 victory over Newcastle United at Elland Road on Monday night, extending their unbeaten Premier League start and moving up to third place. Daniel Farke’s side scored three times in a decisive 14-minute spell before Noah Okafor added a fourth after the break, leaving Newcastle with only a late consolation.

Leeds took the lead in the 32nd minute when Ao Tanaka struck from the edge of the penalty area. His effort took deflections off Sean Steur and Lewis Miley before looping beyond Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek. The goal was officially recorded as a Miley own goal.

The hosts doubled their advantage two minutes later. James Justin’s cross was met by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose header brushed Jayden Bogle on its way into the bottom corner. Bogle was credited with the goal, although Calvert-Lewin played the key role in creating the chance.

Calvert-Lewin then got on the scoresheet himself in first-half stoppage time, powering past Sven Botman and sliding a composed finish underneath Hornicek. It was his fifth consecutive Premier League goal at Elland Road, capping a dominant first half for Leeds.

Newcastle improved little after the interval, and Leeds added a fourth in the 59th minute. Ethan Ampadu’s long throw was only partially cleared, allowing Okafor to strike a powerful half-volley from the edge of the area into the far corner.

Bazoumana Touré scored for Newcastle in the 90th minute, but the goal did not alter the outcome of a match Leeds had controlled from the opening half-hour. The defeat was the first suffered by Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle.
