Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has presented an official Ghana 2026 World Cup jersey to Al-Swehly president Ibrahim Al-Dbeibah, days after beginning his new chapter with the Libyan champions. The 28-year-old joined Al-Swehly following his departure from Spanish club Real Oviedo and has quickly become part of the club’s plans for the domestic season and CAF Champions League campaign.

Sibo handed over the jersey on Thursday in a gesture reflecting his recent World Cup experience with Ghana. The midfielder featured in all four of the Black Stars’ matches at the 2026 tournament, playing 249 minutes across fixtures against Panama, England, Croatia and Colombia.

He made his only start in Ghana’s goalless draw with England, completing the full 90 minutes. Sibo also played 12 minutes against Panama, 85 minutes in the 2–1 defeat to Croatia and 62 minutes in Ghana’s 1–0 round-of-32 loss to Colombia.

Al-Swehly confirmed Sibo’s arrival from Oviedo in August on a three-year contract, with an option for a further season. The move brought the midfielder to the reigning Libyan champions after an extended spell in Spanish football.

Sibo has now turned his attention to Al-Swehly’s CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie against Zanzibar’s KVZ FC. The Libyan side travel to the New Amaan Stadium for Sunday’s second leg holding a 1–0 advantage from the first match in Misrata.

Abdullah Al-Orfey scored the only goal of the first leg in the 66th minute, taking advantage of a goalkeeping mistake to give Al-Swehly a narrow lead. Sibo is expected to be involved as the visitors attempt to protect that advantage and reach the second preliminary round.

The second leg kicks off at 12:00 GMT on Sunday, 13 September. If Al-Swehly progress, they will face either Botswana’s Gaborone United or Tanzania’s Young Africans in the next round.
