Dani Ceballos has completed his return to Real Betis, signing a three-year contract that will keep him at the Andalusian club until June 2029. The Spanish midfielder joins as a free agent after leaving Real Madrid, bringing him back to the club where he developed and began his professional career.
The agreement concludes a prolonged search for Ceballos’ next destination and gives Betis an experienced central midfielder without requiring a transfer fee. The club had been working to finalise the deal during the closing stages of the transfer window, with the remaining arrangements now settled.
Ceballos previously left Betis for Real Madrid nine years ago after establishing himself as one of Spain’s promising midfield talents. His return represents a significant homecoming for the player, who was born in Utrera and began his football education within the Betis system.
The contract runs until 30 June 2029 and includes salary arrangements linked to Betis’ participation in European competition, as well as performance-related bonuses. Ceballos is expected to occupy a significant position within the club’s midfield hierarchy and provide technical quality, passing range and experience to the squad.
Because Ceballos was a free agent following the termination of his Real Madrid contract, Betis were able to register him after the Spanish transfer deadline, provided space was available in the squad. However, his inclusion in the club’s Champions League squad depended on UEFA’s separate registration deadline.
