Manchester United have been handed a late fitness concern ahead of Sunday’s derby with Manchester City after Bruno Fernandes was seen limping while leaving Old Trafford following the 4-0 Champions League win over Sabah FK.

The captain completed the full match and showed no obvious discomfort during the game, scoring United’s second goal in a dominant display. A video later appeared to show him walking gingerly as he departed alongside club personnel, prompting concern among supporters.

There has been no confirmed diagnosis and no indication that Fernandes has been ruled out of the derby. The footage establishes only that his movement appeared uncomfortable; it does not identify an injury or reveal its severity. Reports therefore suggest a possible minor knock rather than a confirmed absence.

Michael Carrick also explained that Fernandes remained on the pitch because United had limited substitution options and needed to make several decisions during the match. The midfielder has completed all four of United’s matches this season, underlining his importance to the team.

United’s Champions League return ended with goals from Matheus Cunha, Fernandes, Benjamin Šeško and Lisandro Martínez. The result gave Carrick’s side confidence before the visit of City, but the condition of their captain will be monitored during the final training sessions.
