The Caribbean Premier League reached a historic milestone on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as the inaugural Hall of Fame gala unfolded at the Hilton Barbados Resort. Former West Indies all‑rounder Dwayne Bravo and veteran commentator Ian Bishop were formally inducted, cementing their legacies within the tournament that has become the region’s premier T20 showcase.
Bravo, the first player to receive the newly created Sir Garry Sobers Award, stood alongside Daniel Sobers, who presented the honour on behalf of the Sobers family. In a brief but heartfelt address, Bravo reflected on a career that has been inextricably linked with the CPL. “It’s a real honour to be the first player inducted into the CPL Hall of Fame. This tournament has been a huge part of my career, and I will always treasure every title I’ve won here. I’ve played cricket all over the world, but there’s nothing like playing at home. CPL is a true celebration of Caribbean culture and the game,” he said.
Bishop, inducted in the non‑player category, was recognised for a decade‑long commentary partnership that has narrated the league’s most electrifying moments since its launch in 2013. His voice has become synonymous with the “Biggest Party in Sport,” guiding fans across the Caribbean and beyond through countless finals, dramatic finishes, and the tournament’s evolving identity. The ceremony highlighted Bishop’s transition from a fast‑bowling prospect to one of the sport’s most respected broadcasters, underscoring how his insights have amplified the CPL’s global reach.
The gala attracted a distinguished roster of guests, including Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts and Secretary of Youth Empowerment and Sport Keigon Denoon,
