Olise then ensured the margin reflected Bayern’s dominance, scoring in the 83rd minute before adding his second in stoppage time. The French winger had also supplied Kane’s goal and was one of the key figures in a second-half display that overwhelmed the visitors.
The win continued Bayern’s remarkable record in Champions League openers, with the club now victorious in its first match of the competition for a 23rd consecutive season. Bayern also extended their unbeaten home run in the Champions League’s group or league phase to 39 matches.
Manuel Neuer kept a clean sheet on his 18th Champions League campaign, moving clear of Thomas Müller as the German player with the most seasons in Europe’s leading club competition. The Bayern captain’s return to the side added further experience to a performance that combined patience before half-time with ruthless finishing afterward.
