Barcelona’s Yamal Strikes Again: 5-2 Thrashing of Real Betis Extends Perfect Start to 11 Wins

Barcelona’s remarkable start to the 2026-27 season continued on Saturday as they beat Real Betis 5-2 at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville. The victory was Barcelona’s 11th in 11 matches in all competitions and maintained their five-point lead at the top of La Liga.

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a superb strike from outside the penalty area after beating Facundo Bernal. The 19-year-old also provided the assist for Gabriel Jesus as Barcelona took control after half-time.

Rodri scored his first Barcelona goal before Jesus, Eric García and Dani Olmo completed the visitors’ scoring. Betis replied through Abde Ezzalzouli and Cucho Hernández, but their task became harder after Bernal was sent off following an off-the-ball clash with Yamal.

The win was Barcelona’s ninth straight La Liga victory to begin the campaign, setting a new club record and equalling the Spanish top-flight record set by Real Madrid in 1968-69. Barcelona have scored 39 league goals in those nine matches.

Hansi Flick’s side next turn their attention to a Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain. Yamal’s goal and assist against Betis again underlined his importance to a Barcelona team whose attacking form has made them the early pace-setters in Spain
