Arsenal Star Viktor Gyokeres In Exit Talks As Gunners Plot Major Summer Reshape

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres is not actively holding exit talks, but his future has been discussed internally as the club explored attacking reinforcements over the summer. Mikel Arteta has publicly insisted that Gyökeres will remain at Arsenal for the season, while reports indicate the Swede would only be sold in 2027 if a top-class replacement is lined up.

Arsenal’s hierarchy did pursue Julian Álvarez and Vinícius Júnior during the window. Álvarez was viewed as the most realistic target after Liverpool secured Bradley Barcola, but Atlético Madrid refused to negotiate and the Argentine returned to training in Spain. Arsenal’s interest in Vinícius became public, but Real Madrid considered him untouchable and the player signed a contract extension.

To help fund incoming business and streamline the squad, Arsenal moved on several players. Jakub Kiwior joined Porto in a loan-to-buy deal worth around €22 million including add-ons. Fabio Vieira was sold to Hamburg for about £8.5 million after failing to secure a regular role. Reiss Nelson had his contract terminated and returned to Feyenoord, while Leandro Trossard moved to Beşiktaş and Christian Nørgaard joined Everton.

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s situation is different from the picture presented. He left Arsenal on loan for Nottingham Forest in September 2025, but that spell ended early and he subsequently joined Ajax permanently in January 2026. He is no longer an Arsenal player and is not at Forest under Sean Dyche.

In the wider market, Nicolas Jackson has not been linked with a Chelsea exit in credible reports, and there is no evidence of four top-half Premier League clubs making firm inquiries. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains at Beşiktaş under contract until 2027, with no confirmed talks about a termination or a move to Birmingham City. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is at Marseille, but there is no verified report of him being dropped after a fire-extinguisher incident.
