Arsenal are maintaining interest in Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as the Brazilian continues his recovery from a serious knee injury, but a January transfer is not expected.
The 25-year-old has emerged as a long-term target for the Gunners, who have remained in contact with his representatives while monitoring his situation at the Bernabéu. However, there is no indication that Arsenal have made a formal offer or opened direct negotiations with Real Madrid.
Rodrygo suffered an ACL injury in March and was initially expected to miss a significant portion of the season. His rehabilitation has progressed encouragingly, with Madrid hopeful that he could return around December or January, although the club are not expected to rush him back before he is fully fit.
Arsenal’s interest reflects Rodrygo’s versatility and experience at the highest level. Capable of operating on either flank or through the middle, he would offer Mikel Arteta an established attacking option with Champions League pedigree. Reports suggest the Gunners have considered him as a potential solution on the left side of their forward line following the departures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
Despite renewed speculation, a winter move appears unlikely. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has said Arsenal admire the player but do not expect to sign him in January, while Real Madrid’s current stance is that Rodrygo will remain in Spain during the mid-season window.
Rodrygo has also been linked with Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham, though those reports remain speculative. There is no evidence that all of those clubs are pursuing active negotiations, and no formal bids have been publicly reported. Liverpool’s interest is partly rooted in the period before Rodrygo joined Madrid from Santos in 2019.
The Brazilian remains under contract at Real Madrid until 2028, leaving the Spanish club in a strong position should interest intensify. Reports have suggested valuations ranging from €80 million to £75 million, although neither Real Madrid nor Rodrygo’s camp has publicly confirmed an asking price. Transfermarkt’s estimated €45 million market value is not an official valuation.
For now, Arsenal’s approach is patient. The club are keeping communication open and assessing how Rodrygo’s return from injury affects his place in Madrid’s plans. A more serious discussion could emerge next summer, but the immediate priority for the player is to return to full fitness and re-establish himself at the Bernabéu.
