Arsenal have completed the signing of highly rated 16-year-old striker Vincent Joseph from Liverpool, adding the England Under-16 international to their academy scholarship intake for the 2026–27 season.

Joseph spent nine years in Liverpool’s youth system but chose not to sign scholarship terms with the Merseyside club. He has instead agreed first-year scholarship terms with Arsenal and is expected to continue his development with the Gunners’ under-18 side.

Arsenal confirmed the deal in a club statement, saying: “We’re delighted to confirm the signing of talented young England U16s striker Vincent Joseph. The forward joins us as part of our first-year scholarship intake for the 2026/27 season.”

The teenager had also attracted interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, but Arsenal won the race for his signature. Because Joseph left Liverpool without signing a professional contract, the clubs must agree compensation or have the fee determined by a tribunal.

Joseph made a strong impression at under-18 level for Liverpool last season, scoring three goals in his first two appearances. He has also scored eight goals and provided one assist in nine games for England Under-16s.

The forward marked his departure from Liverpool with an emotional message on Instagram.

“After nine unforgettable years, the time has come to say goodbye,” Joseph wrote. “Thank you for the memories, and for making my time here truly special. YNWA.”

Joseph becomes the latest addition to Arsenal’s academy rebuild. The Gunners have also strengthened their youth ranks during the summer with the arrivals of Habeeb Ogunneye, James Scanlon, Igor Tyjon, Axel Donczew, Mylo Bernard and Elijah Upson.

Arsenal will hope Joseph’s goalscoring record at Liverpool and England youth level can translate into a successful next step at Hale End.
