Ruben Amorim’s reign at AC Milan began with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Torino, and the Rossoneri now turn their attention to Friday’s home match against Venezia at San Siro. Two quick second-half goals from Alphadjo Cisse and substitute Adrien Rabiot secured three points in Amorim’s first Serie A match in charge.
Milan controlled much of the opening game but struggled to turn their possession into goals before the interval. Amorim changed the contest by introducing Luka Modrić and Rabiot shortly after halftime. Rabiot immediately influenced the match, providing the cross for Cisse’s opener in the 64th minute before scoring himself three minutes later.
Cisse was one of the standout performers. The 19-year-old was handed a starting role because Rafael Leão was unavailable and responded with an impressive display, scoring his first Serie A goal. Amorim praised not only the goal but also the teenager’s overall quality and ability to follow the team’s tactical instructions.
Cisse is expected to retain his place against Venezia. Leão remains sidelined with an injury and has also been linked with a possible move before the transfer deadline, while Christian Pulisic is still working his way back to full fitness and is unlikely to start. The American could, however, feature from the bench.
The selection would underline Amorim’s preference for current form and tactical discipline over reputation. Established names such as Leão and Pulisic may have greater experience, but Cisse has shown that he can contribute within the manager’s system and deserves another opportunity.
Venezia arrive at San Siro after a difficult return to Serie A. They lost 2–0 at home to Lecce, conceding second-half goals from Olaf Gorter and Tiago Gabriel. Their defensive weaknesses will face a major test against a Milan side that has already shown it can increase the pressure as matches progress.
Amorim is expected to keep a largely unchanged lineup. Milan’s likely shape is a 3-4-2-1, with Mike Maignan in goal, Cisse and Ruben Loftus-Cheek operating behind Gonçalo Ramos, and Yunus Musah and Ardon Jashari providing the midfield platform.
The match is part of a busy Serie A weekend that also includes Roma against Fiorentina, Bologna versus Lazio and Frosinone against Juventus. Milan will want to build early momentum before facing more demanding fixtures, including an away trip to Roma and a home meeting with Monza.
A second consecutive victory would strengthen confidence in Amorim’s project and provide further evidence that his tactical approach is taking hold. Cisse’s performance will attract much of the attention, but Milan’s ability to control the match for longer periods remains equally important as the new coach attempts to establish his identity.
