Alexis Mac Allister remains committed to Liverpool despite reports that intermediaries raised the possibility of a Manchester City move during the summer. The Argentine midfielder has said he is happy at Anfield and wants to continue giving his all to the club, even though Liverpool have yet to open talks over a new contract.

Mac Allister’s current deal runs until 2028, but he said he was “very sad” not to have received an offer of an extension. He also acknowledged that there were opportunities to leave in the summer, though his priority remains Liverpool. “I think right now I’m in the right club and I have the right mindset to give 100% for this club,” he said.

Reports of City interest should be treated with caution. Fabrizio Romano said the prospect of Mac Allister moving to the Etihad was presented by intermediaries rather than emerging from an official Manchester City approach or a bid to Liverpool. City’s principal midfield focus during the summer was Enzo Fernández, while they also completed the signing of Lille prospect Ayyoub Bouaddi.

That means the suggestion that Liverpool are planning a move for Bouaddi is inaccurate: Manchester City signed the midfielder, with reports putting the fee at roughly £86 million. The 19-year-old arrived from Lille as part of City’s midfield rebuild, alongside Elliot Anderson, after the departures of Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Tijjani Reijnders.

The claim that Rodri is currently a Manchester City player is also incorrect. He left City during the summer, and Real Madrid were not reported to be pursuing a deal for him at the time; City’s subsequent recruitment reflected their need to rebuild in midfield.

Arsenal’s reported interest in Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has been linked to a potential future transfer battle, with Real Madrid also said to have monitored the Italian. However, there is no verified indication that Manchester City are pursuing Tonali or that a direct City-Arsenal race is underway. Tonali remains under contract at Newcastle until 2028.

Manchester United’s interest in Aurélien Tchouaméni has likewise been speculative rather than an active transfer process. United have viewed the Real Madrid midfielder as an ideal addition, but two central hurdles remain: Real Madrid have shown no willingness to sell, and Tchouaméni’s salary would be difficult for United to match within their planned wage structure.
