Tottenham Hotspur have struck an agreement with Manchester City to sign Brazilian international winger Savinho in a package that could reach £85 million. The deal sees Spurs pay an initial £75 million up front, with a further £10 million included in performance-related add-ons. Crucially, £5 million of those bonuses are effectively guaranteed, ensuring City will collect at least £80 million from the transaction. Savinho has been cleared to undergo his medical ahead of finalizing a long-term contract in north London, handing manager Roberto De Zerbi one of his primary summer attacking targets.
The £85 million transfer marks a club-record sale for Manchester City, eclipsing the £82 million package that took Julián Álvarez to Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2024. City originally recruited Savinho from City Football Group side Troyes for £30.8 million in 2024 following an impressive loan stint at Girona. However, the winger didn’t establish a permanent starting berth at the Etihad Stadium, starting just seven of his 24 Premier League appearances last season. He registered a single goal and two assists across his league and Champions League outings last term, adding three more goals in domestic cup action to finish with four overall. City are already exploring replacement options, advancing work on a move for Palmeiras winger Allan.
Simultaneously, Tottenham are pushing to complete a double raid on the Premier League champions by securing forward Omar Marmoush. The 27-year-old Egypt international has already agreed personal terms with Spurs, driven by a desire to secure a central starting role after playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland since his £59 million move from Eintracht Frankfurt last January. Negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage, with Spurs confident of finalizing a £65 million agreement for Marmoush. Combined with the £85 million commitment for Savinho, the two transactions total a landmark £150 million double swoop. The fee distribution—paying a higher sum for Savinho and a reduced figure for Marmoush—aligns with City’s need to navigate a sell-on clause owed to Eintracht Frankfurt from Marmoush’s previous transfer.
The ambitious double acquisition underscores an aggressive squad overhaul under De Zerbi following Tottenham’s recent on-field struggles. Spurs haven’t slowed their summer activity, having already spent over £200 million during the current transfer window on six first-team arrivals. Yet De Zerbi remains intent on building a completely restructured front three. Alongside Savinho and Marmoush, Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo remains a key target for the north London club, with personal terms already in place with the Dutchman as Tottenham look to finalize a sensational attack.
