Former Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Aditya Tare has backed Arsenal to win back-to-back Premier League titles, saying Mikel Arteta’s side have the ingredients to build a sustained period of dominance in English football. Speaking during the Premier League Trophy Tour in Mumbai, the lifelong Arsenal supporter drew on his own experience of winning consecutive IPL titles with Mumbai Indians.
Tare described Arsenal’s first Premier League title in 22 years, secured last season under Arteta, as a moment of relief after years of near misses. He recalled supporting the club as a child and watching Arsenal’s unbeaten 2003-04 “Invincibles” campaign, before seeing the trophy in person in Mumbai.
“It’s a dream come true, to be honest,” Tare told JioStar. “Growing up, I’ve supported Arsenal since I was a kid. I watched Arsenal win the Premier League in 2003-04 as the Invincibles without losing a single game. Since then, it has been a very long wait for the next title win, and after so many years of waiting and coming so close, there was a huge sense of relief when we finally won the title last season.”
Arsenal also reached the Champions League final last season, where they were beaten by defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. Tare believes that European run, combined with the club’s domestic title success, shows Arsenal are now equipped to compete at the highest level consistently.
Drawing on his time with Mumbai Indians, Tare said winning successive championships is a rare privilege and one that can become habitual once a club learns how to handle success. “Having been part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL in the past, winning back-to-back titles is a privilege not many get to experience,” he said. “Once you win a trophy, I think it becomes a habit that will give you those back-to-back championships.”
Tare praised Arteta’s leadership and believes Arsenal now possess the quality, depth, and mentality required to remain at the top. “I believe this Arsenal team, especially with Mikel Arteta as the manager, has got all the ingredients to dominate in the Premier League in the coming years,” he said. “So, I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of happy years going forward for Arsenal supporters and the club as well.”
He also highlighted Martin Ødegaard’s leadership as an important part of Arsenal’s title-winning identity, while reflecting on the shift in power after years of Manchester City’s dominance. For Tare, Arsenal’s recent success has finally given their supporters the confidence—and the bragging rights—that comes with being champions.
